Finding Inspiration — how do you do it?

Working 5 days a week at a desk and computer can hinder your creativity. Inspiration plays such a crucial role in creative design. When we take a break and have new experiences it awakens the left side of our brain and our work will reveal its impact.

Over the last few months, I have been traveling throughout Switzerland and Austria. I didn’t realize how much a change in scenery and a diversion from my daily routine could affect the flow and quality of my work.

Whether it be from food, colors, architecture, reading, different languages, scenery, culture and the beauty this world has to offer, I feel that I have a fresh and bright perspective now. Therefore, I have many new marketing insights, design influence and most of all a whole new vision.

When you’ve excelled in your field or do the same routine every day, it is sometimes hard to break out of the norm and learn or discover new things. In addition, there is only so much time in the day. As a creative, you must make a commitment to yourself to seek out new adventures to find inspiration. Even if they are in your own backyard or across the seas.

There are lots of ways to gather inspiration!

  • Take a class
  • Read a book
  • Attend professional gatherings
  • Travel
  • Try new things

It’s best to pick one that works for you. Then structure your time to integrate these actions into your routine.
