When a photographer composes a shot, they use the ‘rule of thirds’ to make the composition more interesting. The ‘rule of thirds’ identifies four important parts of the image a photographer should consider placing points of interest in as they frame their image.
If the photographer had put the delicious muffins in the middle, the shot would have worked. But, since they put them in the grid to the left, the shot is now more interesting.
Also, if the photographer had just used the muffins, it would have gotten the point across they are the main focus. However, with the unfocused items in the background, more of a story is given, which it what art — no matter what the medium — is all about!
