Where Did the Time Go?!

… and in the blink of an eye – it was Winter!

It seems the season of “Happy Holidays!” is upon us again, from the constant reminders on TV, to the playing of holiday favorites on the radio, and even more so on social media. For some – this is an occasion for joy, for others – stress takes over, and for folks like me – absolutely dizzy, busy, and totally distracted by the holiday chatter one can’t seem to escape! This year is seemingly more distracting than others thanks to the endless content I find myself watching on the buzzworthy social media app, TikTok!

Don’t get me wrong – I am team holly jolly holiday cheer each and every day of the winter season. However, like so many others, I am not a fan of dark at 5:45 pm, shivering cold, and busier than ever with no time to spare as the year-end is quite literally just around the corner! Not to fret, the silver lining of the holiday season is the opportunity to get back some of that fast escaping time when the office is closed and the meetings are done, allowing yourself that much-needed relaxation or maybe jumping on the newest social media bandwagon?

Front and center for viral internet culture, TikTok is the app making waves in not only personal lives, but the marketing industry as well. For many, including myself, we avoided jumping on the TikTok bandwagon initially, only to discover after downloading the app the wealth of information and knowledge being shared. From cooking to dance lessons, charming and comical marketing ads, confessionals and more, the app not only offers the best in entertainment but also provides a space for individuals and businesses alike to collaborate, learn, and grow. But wait, it gets better – in the coming weeks Rapport Marketing will be joining the TikTok fun, so be sure to keep an eye out for our buzzing content and be ready to scroll even more! If you’re looking to start your own TikTok marketing campaign in the new year, this article sets the foundation to do it!

It seems that with every December, the first couple of weeks I catch myself asking “Is time speeding up? How is the New Year only a few weeks away? There’s so much left to do!” And every December the chaos of the end of the year comes and goes – and no, time doesn’t speed up or run out, it just races to the finish line! So, to stay on top of it all as the year comes to a close, use these 5 Easy Ways to Continue Being Productive during the Holiday Season

  1. Put yourself in a location and position that is comfortable.
  2. Take a deep breath, and relax.
  3. Imagine how tasks feel once you’ve completed them.
  4. Don’t try to be perfect!
  5. Get off the internet, and turn off notifications and sounds. (Yes even TikTok 😒)

A 6th tip I’d like to add to that list is to PAUSE. For many of us, this is easier said than done, thinking to yourself “I barely have time to think, how do you expect me to pause?” But think of it as the moments we often overlook! For me, my moment to pause was just the other night when I was busy in my head going over my To-Do list, and I caught the dog having a glorious time zooming around the yard in freshly fallen snow. Just watching him play took my mind off the workday stress, even if just for a moment! Your pause could be that first sip of coffee in the morning, or tuning in to your favorite podcast after the day’s meetings, or better yet – treating yourself with a 20 minute TikTok break!

So even though the days seem shorter, and the minutes seem to fly by in the blink of an eye, remind yourself that you’ve still got 24 hours each day to tackle it all. Pair your productivity with a much-deserved pause every now and then, you’ll be glad you did.

Well would you look at that – I’ve been trying to get this post finished for what seems like weeks now… but I blinked and it’s only been an hour 😉
